With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the big issue on the mind of every fashionista is, of course: What. Do. I. Wear?! Well fear not, we’ve come up with three different ensembles for three different possible scenarios to inspire you – right down to the accessories and jewelry. Leaving you free to focus on looking your fashionable best.
#1 AT HOME WITH YOUR FAM
If celebrating with your family is generally pretty informal, being comfortable can take priority. But not at the expense of looking chic. A must-have graphic sweatshirt by Kenzo is relaxed without being sloppy and has all those juicy touches of red in the tiger-print that beg for red-hued accents. Like our Carnelian Jaali filigree stud earrings! They coordinate without being too matchy, which is always the mark of a fashion pro. A stylish boyfriend jean is a great choice for dressing down…plus you’ll be glad after the meal we didn’t suggest your skinnies. As for your feet, flats are the way to go – we’re crazy for these Tory Burch mukluk boots. And when you’re coming and going, why not show off your excellent taste in jewels by matching your coat to your earrings with something in a zesty shade of paprika (this one is by Sophie Hulme) which is guaranteed to spice up pretty much anything and everything you pair it with.
#2 VISITING HIS FAM
If your holiday plans are more formal than jeans and flats, a knee-length dress makes getting dressed easy. Charcoal is always a good choice because it’s neutral enough to look appropriate in countless social situations from out-to-dinner, to cocktailing, dinner-partying, fine-dining or whatever surprises life’s social calendar may send your way. Tone on tone is the easiest way to elegance plus, more importantly, it makes whatever jewelry you choose the sartorial star of the show. Our Green Amazonite Goddess statement necklace would be stunning with this ruched dress by CLU complete with jewel-neckline just waiting to show off said jewels. Complete the look with dark-taupe suede knee-boots from Lanvin and a slouchy-chic “bathrobe” style coat by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. The seafoam-green in the fabulous Olympia Le-Tan literature clutch subtly references the green of the stones in the necklace and, like the icing on a snazzy cake, slip on some Burberry snakeprint gloves. In short, you’ll look (almost) as delicious as the holiday meal.
#3 EATING OUT
If the plan is to forgo cooking in favor of fine-dining, instead of bringing a dish, think of your excellent ensemble as your contribution to the festivities. Since you’ll spend most of the time around a table, steal a style tip from Coco Chanel’s famous fashion design rival, the gregarious Elsa Schiaparelli, who loved socializing in cafes and restaurants and designed with the waist-up in mind, using embellishment and color to great advantage. Eating and conversing will mean your hands will be in the spotlight, so make sure to pencil in a pre-holiday mani and then rock rings on your fingers. This is our Cuckoo Jaisel enamel ring, which makes a statement by itself but looks really statement’y paired with our Louvre pyramid and resin rings. If you’re in the mood for more-more more, why not slip on a pretty filigree cuff as well? The perfect color backdrop to show off all this bling is chartreuse (this sweater is by Maje) which looks wonderfully on-trend with leaf-green Phillip Lim satin pants. Keep your earrings on the toned-down side – these Amethyst Frost Pyramid Luxe stud earrings are great because they tie perfectly in with burgundy of the Giavanito Rossi pump. A sugary-pink overcoat (Rochas) sweetens the whole deal, leaving you looking just as chic when you arrive and leave as you will at the table. Schiap would be proud!
If you use any of these suggestions, we’d absolutely love to see your outfit. Be sure to Instagram or tweet it with the #ISHARYA and you might be featured on our Facebook page!
And be sure to have a happy, healthy & fashionable Thanksgiving!
