For our recent campaign, we headed to California wine country to the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County to shoot at the picturesque Ferrari-Carano winery. It proved an ideal location for photographing our jewelry and savoring some of the world-class wines grown in the region.
If you’re longing for a sophisticated yet relaxing weekend getaway, we suggest dressing comfortable chic, packing lightly, and heading the car for Healdsburg. From the redwoods to the vineyards, plus fun brunching, cocktailing and restaurant options, there is plenty to keep you well entertained, fine-dined and of course, wined.
Here are our top tips for seeing Sonoma in style:
1. PACK SMART
You don’t need much – just a careful edit of the right items. Something comfy to wear on the drive there, a chic dress for cocktails and dinner and caszh-chic attire for an afternoon of wine-tasting. It’s possible to fit it all into a single weekender bag. The trick to getting maximum mileage from a minimum of clothing is jewelry: it’s lightweight, compact and easily transforms any ensemble. For casual activities, we paired a black cigarette pant by Marni with a pretty, graphic-print tee (Jason Wu) and our bold-hued Florentine Serpent Cuff in coral enamel. This Christian Louboutin “Sweet Charity” handbag was quite the find because of how it highlights the key colors we choose. Finally, a single jacket and one pair of shoes will see you through every activity; we love this fresh white-cotton biker jacket by Belstaff and go-anywhere sandals by Nicholas Kirkwood which look equally chic with a pant or shorts as with a long, relaxed black maxi (this one is by T by Alexander Wang). For daytime, stick with the Royal Filigree gold stud earrings; come evening, slip on the Royal Filigree Collar statement necklace for max impact. (Sunglasses by Ray-ban).

2. ENJOY THE TREES
When you’re en route, be sure to visit the the grove of redwoods in Guerneville which protects ancient trees such as the Colonel Armstrong Tree, said to be around 1,400 years old. At over 300 feet, the Parson Jones Tree towers over its arboreal neighbors – helping provide cooling shade for a perfect meal al fresco or a refreshing hike.
3. SOAK IN THE SUNSET
For a romantic sunset to remember, plan to be in Bodega Bay at least one evening when night falls. However, if you’re in the mood to start off the evening with a cocktail, the h2hotel’s Spoonbar has a “super secret” shrub menu devoted to cocktails crafted from sugar, vinegar, veggie-extractions and shrubs. Monty Python fans will of course want the bartender to “Bring Me a Shrubbery!” – a tasty mix of Vida Mescal, lime, cucumber, fennel, absinthe and golden-beet shrub.
4. FINE DINE
You can pick up picnic fixings at the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market (Saturdays from 9am-noon from May through November) or the Dry Creek General Store, where the generous sandwiches are as fabulous as the 1880s general-store decor. They do have a full bar, but if you’re shopping for lunch, you might want to consider holding off until at least a tad later in the afternoon. (Just sayin’.) Be sure to eat dinner at Rhonda’s Kitchen in the Ferrari-Carano winery, where they’ll help you pair wine with dishes like Apple, Leek, Walnut & Blue Cheese Tart, Beef Tenderloin with Shiitake Madeira Sauce and their signature take on lemon meringue pie, Angel Pie. Alternatively, Willi’s Seafood and Raw Bar is known for their crab cakes and Latin-inflected ceviche. For Sunday breakfast, be sure to sample the bacon-and-egg pizza at the Downtown Bakery & Creamery.
5. A VOTRE SANTE!
Ferrari-Carano Winery is known for their signature (and well-priced) Fumé Blanc – which pairs well with most anything you decide to order. If you’re more of a “red wine person”, their Trésor (“treasure”) is a smooth blend of Bordeaux grapes from the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. For a full tour of the best wineries, the Healdsburg Wine Tour comes highly recommended.
There are only 52 weekends in a year. Be sure to squeeze a chic visit to the wine country in your weekend getaway plans. If you are accessorized in ISHARYA, share with us on instagram by tagging #isharya.
