Even Nemo couldn’t stop Celine clad fashionistas from converging at Lincoln Center this week to take part in the glamorous chaos otherwise known as fashion week! We were keeping tabs all week on the most notable happenings throughout the week and put them together in our official cheat sheet to fashion week FW13. Enjoy!
Scene On The Streets
These fashion week goers showed us how to turn it out even with half a foot of snow on the ground. We love the imaginative use of unexpected bright colors, patterns and cute hats that makes winter feel not so dreary!
Art Deco Revival
We always look forward to Naeem Khan’s show every season and for FW13 he definitely had us swooning for his art deco inspired gowns (far left and right) which were beaded to perfection and truly head turning. We also saw another stunning display of 20’s influence on the Badgley Mischka catwalk.
A Lesson In Layering
When the temperature dips to a new low it’s hard to look put together when layering. Luckily designers including Philip Lim (right) and Altuzarra have come up with a new fashionable solution by pairing a short coat under a long one. This trend was major during the FW13 shows and we predict this will be a major look come fall.
Are You Fur Real?
We think the fur craze all started with Celine’s furry shoes for Spring which went straight into Fall. The hot trend was rampant on the catwalks. Oversized fur coats seen at BCBG (left), Altuzarra (middle) seemed to rule but little touches of fur here and there gave off the same chic effect as spotted at Donna Karan (right).
Black, White & Chic All Over
Since our jewelry is so dramatic, we love a clean color palette and nothing is more neutral than black and white. One of our favorite looks from NYFW was from Victoria Beckham; (left) the elegant cape jacket is on our shopping list for fall! (BCBG top right, Prabal Gurung bottom right)
A new brand we are watching, Clover Canyon presented a selection of prints for Fall 13 (top) that are really graphic, modern and edgy with a nod to the brand’s California heritage. Oscar De La Renta (bottom left) wowed us with a hot pink ball gown with a baroque print and we were smitten by the printed pants at Alice and Olivia (bottom right).
Some of the most prevalent beauty trends from the FW13 shows included heavy eye makeup at Altuzarra (top left), DKNY, Thakoon (bottom right) and more; bright lips as seen at DVF (top right), and unexpected eye liner. We loved Rag and Bone’s futuristic look (bottom left) the most.
And last but not least we are counting the days until we can get our hands on Prabal Gurung’s FW13 shoes and accessories! The cut out boots are insanely haute and the sunglasses are fabulously fresh!
